Good Evening and Happy Ground Hog Day!!
A big thank you to Wiarton Willie (photo above) for your most awesome news. Spring shall come early in 2012 as the little white fuzzy guy did not see his shadow this morning. So, where did Ground Hog Day originate? What is the history on how the day all began?
According to Wikipedia, an early American reference to Groundhog Day can be found in a diary entry, dated February 4, 1841, of Berks County, Pennsylvania, storekeeper James Morris:
In Scotland the tradition may also derive from an English poem:Last Tuesday, the 2nd, was Candlemas day, the day on which, according to the Germans, the Groundhog peeps out of his winter quarters and if he sees his shadow he pops back for another six weeks nap, but if the day be cloudy he remains out, as the weather is to be moderate.
Interesting enough for sure and Ground Hog Day at least gives us all something fun to focus on during these dreary months. Why not make it a whole day of ground hog celebration. Here is a cute craft for the kids to do. A little peeping ground hog popping out of his hole.As the light grows longer
The cold grows stronger
Thank you DLTK's for this cute craft. For all the instructions please visit:http://www.dltk-kids.com/animals/mgroundhogpop.html
Then end the day with a fantastic movie and pop corn. Here is a classic I'm sure most of you recall well. Ground Hog Day staring Bill Murry and Andie MacDowell. Its the story of a weather man who keeps on living the same day over and over again. Quite humorous and worth watching again.

Hope you all had a fantastic Ground Hog Day!! Thank you again Wiarton Wille for your prediction of a early Spring.
Enjoy!
Sab.
